OUR PRO ’S VERDICT

Enid’s Shot of the Day is an excellent example of how different skills and a strong composition can combine to create a very striking image. A 20-second exposure has enabled her to capture the circular swirls of the eddy below the waterfall, while a narrow aperture has helped her to maximise depth of field. Using the log as a foreground feature has also worked extremely well, as has shooting in portrait format, which has created a strong relationship between the log and the waterfall; the highlights in the fall are nicely captured within the frame too. Overall, Enid produced a really nice set of images during the day, showing a strong feel for composition and a good understanding of her camera’s controls.
