06 Dawn in the Reeds

I was standing in the middle of a reed bed on the Suffolk coast, waiting for a female bittern to make one of her regular feeding flights back to the nest. I’d been waiting there since before dawn, and as the sun came up it shone though the mist, turning the reeds a gorgeous golden colour. I noticed a family group of blue tits feeding on the reed heads, and I pressed the shutter as this one took off, backlit by the rising sun.
