As I framed this shot of a young girl fishing in the floodwaters, John reminded me to keep an eye on the background as some parts of the location were very ‘busy’ – and to stay alert and work quickly because moments like these don’t last very long. The portrait was taken at midday, a time that’s usually disregarded for photography, as the light is at its harshest, particularly in tropical areas. Luckily for us, it was hazy on this day and there were no harsh shadows. In fact, the hardest part was focusing on getting a sharp shot while we were balancing on a narrow plank!
