Egyp­tian Dugong

The dugong lives in parts of the Red Sea, Per­sian Gulf and the In­dian and Pa­cific Oceans. In the 1980s the Red Sea dugong pop­u­la­tion was es­ti­mated at about 4000. How­ever, the num­bers are grad­u­ally de­creas­ing, partly due to the de­vel­op­ment of the Egyp­tian coast­line.
