OUR APPRENTICE says…

This shot was the culmination of everything Adam had taught me about shutter speed, panning and angling the camera. With the camera set on continuous autofocus and continuous drive mode, and with my thumb pressed down on the AF-ON button to autofocus, I tracked this classic American car through the viewfinder and fired off a short burst as it passed. Because I’d been practising my panning technique, and because the car had to slow down to negotiate the bend, I was able to go as low as 1/80 sec and still get the car sharp. I love the way the dramatic angle adds a sense of speed and drama, while the blues in the car, the kerb and the barriers in the background tie the whole thing together nicely.
