Round the bend

When looking for vantage points, keep an eye out for tight chicanes. Not only do they slow cars down, making them easier to shoot, they also provide a sweeping ‘S’ bend that compresses perspective and enables you to include two or more cars in tight formation – which again adds to the feeling that the cars are racing. If possible, try to separate the first few cars so they’re distinct from each other, and as with panning, try tilting your camera to one side.
