EXPERT INSIGHT Backgrounds

NPhoto - - Apprentice -

The biggest mistake beginners make when photographing motorsport is that they forget the background. A friend of mine used to say ‘Look for the crowd, then shoot anything that happens in front of it’. That’s good advice if the stands are packed, as crowds can provide a colourful, uniform background. By contrast, scattered groups of spectators, portaloos and trackside clutter are all unwanted distractions.
