After being lowered 60 metres into a huge hole in the Indonesian jungle you make your way through slippery mud into this cavern, where at midday the sunlight pours in, creating these amazing rays of light. I set up the tripod and camera, framed the image and took test shots to check focus and exposure – I had planned to capture a selfie, and had bought a wireless remote before the trip. I locked things down, then scrambled through the mud, climbed the rock column under a shower of water, took a few shots and scrambled back to check the camera. The light kept changing so it was a bit of a crapshoot, but it was worth the trouble in the end.jhnsn Nikon D800e, Nikon AF-S 16-35mm f/4G ED VR, 0.6 sec, f/5.6, ISO160
