Olly says... Man­ual mode gives you full con­trol over ev­ery set­ting on the cam­era. You want to have an idea in your mind’s eye be­fore cre­at­ing the shot. For in­stance, here we wanted both the mar­rows to be in fo­cus, so we chose a set­ting of f/10 to in­crease depth of field. Re­mem­ber, a longer fo­cal length lens will re­quire a smaller aper­ture (f/11-f/16), as it will com­press the depth of field more than a wide-an­gle lens.
