When you see a framed pic­ture on a wall, you can in­stantly tell if it isn’t level, and we re­spond sim­i­larly to sym­me­try, says Char­lie: “It’s im­por­tant that you’re not slightly out; if you are, the viewer will strain to ‘cor­rect’ the shot in their mind’s eye. What you don’t want is for them to wish you’d moved a few feet to the left or right! This is where look­ing closely at what’s in the viewfinder is so im­por­tant.” [See Killer Kit #02.]
