Char­lie says… Dark cloths are tra­di­tion­ally used with large­for­mat cam­eras, when the im­age that’s pro­jected onto the cam­era’s glass screen can be hard to make out, but I find them really use­ful for land­scape pho­tog­ra­phy. By sep­a­rat­ing you from your sur­round­ings, they really help you to con­cen­trate solely on what’s in your viewfinder, which in turn helps you to work out if there’s any­thing in the frame that you could omit, es­pe­cially around the edges.
