Nikon 1 J5 Lab test results
It lags a little behind the D3200 for capturing fine detail, and simply can’t compete with the three newer D-SLRs in our group.
Despite having an identical score to the D3300, the J5 tends to produce cooler-looking images when using auto white balance.
Lab results look convincing, but noise at high ISOs is more noticeable than on the D-SLRs.
Dynamic range can suffer when you’re squeezing lots of pixels onto a small sensor, but the J5 performs remarkably well.
Good but not great, the J5 can’t quite match the image quality of its D-SLR cousins. It can’t compete when it comes to reproducing fine detail or controlling image noise at high ISO settings.
