The six best providers reviewed and rated

We all get snap-happy on our travels or at big events, but confining those photos to your hard drive once you’re home just won’t do. Luckily there’s no shortage of companies that’ll print them all out in a beautiful book.

Deciding which company to use isn’t easy, with each firm offering numerous size, design, and paper options. We selected six highly regarded printers and picked a landscape-format book close to A4 size. Each one we ordered contained the same colour and mono travel photos, along with a printer test chart to expose the slightest printing anomalies.

However, even the highest print quality isn’t much good if you’re not also able to nail the layout and design that you’re after. That comes down to how easy each manufacturer’s accompanying book-creation software is to master, and what tricks it’ll let you pull.

Finally, it’s worth bearing in mind that while the books did vary in print quality, all were of a very high standard and we had to scrutinise them very closely to find faults.
