Expert Insight A mini landscape

Philip says… If you find yourself struggling when photographing a garden, it helps to think of the scene as a mixture of a mini landscape and architecture. You need to construct the scene so that you include everything you want, with emphasis in the right places. Take into account what the garden designer was thinking about, and try to pick out what they were after. In the summer there are ‘punctuation marks’ in the beds, and not all of it works photographically.
