CHROMINANCE AND LUMINANCE

Chrominance (or colour) noise is especially ugly, as it manifests itself as blotches of green and purple pixels. Luminance noise is present in images as greyscale specks.

HALOS

Halos are light or dark lines that can cling to the edge of sharpened details. They are caused by the contrast change that sharpening produces.
