1 Know their needs

If you’re en­cour­ag­ing the cats with treats, be aware of their diet – es­pe­cially when pho­tograph­ing other peo­ple’s pets. Some cats also have ill­nesses, so be sen­si­tive to their lim­its; hav­ing flash­guns around cats with epilepsy is of course a no-go…

2 Take reg­u­lar breaks

You can’t shoot for six hours straight with an­i­mals. Be aware of their stress lev­els and at­ten­tive­ness, as what must al­ways come first is their wel­fare, not the pho­to­graph. Take breaks to cud­dle the cats, to let them ex­plore their en­vi­ron­ment stress-free, and to rest.
