Ei­nar says... A lot of the day was spent con­fig­ur­ing AF set­tings, and while this is vi­tal when pho­tograph­ing wildlife on the move, static shots like this are much sim­pler. Faced with an abun­dance of a species you can af­ford to pick the most pho­to­genic spot and wait for an an­i­mal to come to it. I ad­vised Sig­ur­jón to fo­cus on the branch and wait for a red­poll to land – at which point he could quickly re-fo­cus if needed, and fire off a few shots.
