Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM

Best DX wide zoom

We revisited this lens in issue 62’s in-depth test of wide-angle zooms, and fell in love with it all over again. Despite costing half the price of the competing Nikon 10-24mm, the Sigma delivers a constant maximum aperture of f/3.5 (which makes it easier to use in Manual mode) and the same viewing angle. Unlike other inexpensive DX-format wide-angle zooms, the Sigma boasts fast and quiet ring-type ultrasonic autofocus, with fulltime manual override. It’s also well built, and comes with a lens hood and a soft case.

High-grade glass includes ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) and SLD (Special Low Dispersion) elements, plus four aspherical elements. The lens focuses down to 24cm, enabling some incredible perspective effects.

BUY if… You want premium image quality from a wide-angle, without spending over the odds.
