1 Keep your speed up

Work in shutter-priority mode, dialling in a fast shutter speed and setting the ISO to Auto, as this way the camera will then automatically adjust the aperture and sensitivity to produce a balanced exposure.

2 Shoot in bursts

Fire the camera in short, sharp bursts so that the buffer won’t fill up and the camera won’t slow down. This will also encourage you to anticipate (tip 3) rather than ‘spray and pray’.

3 Anticipate the moment

Know your subject and learn to predict their next move, so you can pre-focus the lens at the right distance, speed up the camera’s reaction time, and capture the decisive moment.
