I think it is time for me to get some Speedlight training to complement the photographs I take with my trusty Nikon D300s. I like to photograph a varied selection of subjects from motorsport to agriculture to flowers and gardens within country house estates. At times I realise that a bit of flash would help.
I particularly need help when trying to get the correct exposure and power and direction of the flash. Malcolm Ross, via email Thanks for your letter, Malcolm. Our monthly dedicated Teach Yourself Flash series focuses on using Speedlights and other lighting kit and techniques that can make all the difference. In issue 68 we looked at macro shots of plants, so this may suit your shooting tastes. You might also enjoy our motorsport Apprentice in issue 66. For hands-on training, the Nikon School has Speedlight courses in April (see www.nikon.co.uk/training).
