Fiona says... Some­times you’ll want to com­pos­ite two or more shots to­gether; maybe the fa­cial ex­pres­sion isn’t quite right but the back­ground looks un­wrin­kled. What­ever the rea­son you should use a prime lens. A fixed fo­cal length en­sures that you keep uni­form per­spec­tive dis­tor­tion, and that makes it eas­ier to merge shots to­gether in post-pro­duc­tion later. I al­ways say get as much right in-cam­era as pos­si­ble; it’ll make your life a lot sim­pler when com­posit­ing on the com­puter.
