Birds of a feather

On page 34 of N-Photo issue 70 the Capture Flocks in Flight article inspired me to try taking something similar. As is always the case, I couldn’t find the magazine anywhere when I needed it. So, I proceeded regardless and decided to ‘wing’ it when I got on location. I headed into Belfast city centre and to the Albert Bridge over the River Lagan where starlings come to roost each evening. I got several photographs of the birds and even managed some images of the sunset over the city hills. On my return, my wife greets me and says, “Is this the magazine you were looking for?” I realized I had all the wrong settings, but I still got a few photos with my 18-55mm kit lens. Thanks for the inspiration. It was just the push I needed. NiallBoyle, viaemail We’re very glad to hear the article had such a positive effect on your photography, Niall. Yours is a sublime image that shows it isn’t the gear, but the photographer, that makes the difference. We especially like the reflection of the bridge and the birds in the water, as well as the vibrant pink hues. Well done!
