At the end of the day you need somewhere to go through your shots. The campervan was brilliant for this. Everything neatly tucked away and quickly unfolded, like the table here, so I could crack out my MacBook Pro and edit shots I’d taken that day. After eating I grabbed my memory card and went back out to photograph the stars. I slid out my smartphone and used Sky Guide, an app that identifies the night sky stars. Unsure of what constellation is which? Hold the phone up and it’ll instantly tell you, thanks to the motion sensitivity and GPS on your phone. The app wasn’t just good for photos – I started learning the constellations while waiting for my 30-second exposure to finish.
