Capture NX-D’s crop overlay grid is broken up into a grid of nine rectangles that create three columns and three rows. In the walkthrough we used this overlay grid to help us place the girl precisely in the lower centre of the frame for a more balanced composition. You can also use the overlay grid to make the cropped shot comply with the classic Rule of Thirds, used by artists for centuries. By making two of the intersecting horizontal and vertical grid lines overlap the girl you can place her in an area of the frame that the eye is naturally drawn to, creating a more pleasing composition.
