Ditch the bag

One mistake many beginner macro photographers make is that they keep their bag on when shooting. This has a detrimental effect on macro photography, because not only can straps swing around when you’re crouched down, and so disturb the wildlife, but a bag can also make your movement cumbersome and awkward. Drop the bag down before you approach your subject and you’ll feel much freer, and have a much better range of movement for shooting.
