I took my first shots at Meeth Quarry, photographing the damselflies that flew around the pond there. Many of them were mating, and during one such courtship I spotted a couple perched on the long grass. Taking shots at f/5.6 meant I couldn’t get both the male and female in focus, so Ross recommended setting my aperture to f/11. Now both the insects were in focus, with only their wings falling into softness. With my ISO bumped up a little to 500 I achieved a shutter speed of 1/640 sec, which froze the movement of the grass as the wind blew threw it.
