Our Apprentice says…

NPhoto - - The NPhoto Apprentice -

We happened upon some meadow thistle in a field. Ross told me that there might be crab spiders hiding amongst the flowers, and before long we found one clinging to the underside of a thistle. Because the spider wasn’t going anywhere fast – unlike the damselflies – I could set up my tripod. Up close the depth of field was very narrow, so I upped my aperture to f/16, which gave me a shutter speed of 1/250 sec. My test shot was slightly dark, so I dialled in a stop of positive exposure compensation to lighten it up.
