Shooting during a bright day wide open might max out your shutter speed, meaning overexposed images. In order to counteract this, use a variable neutral density filter. These consist of a pair of polarizing filters, one of which can be rotated to make the image progressively darker. Turn it until you have an exposure you’re happy with.
