N-Photo says… Why it works

NPhoto - - Into Africa -

This is an intriguing, captivating shot that captures animal behaviour in an incredibly artful way. People unfamiliar with photography techniques are unlikely to spot that Frans used flash here – for the rest of us, the shadows running down the legs of the dogs are a giveaway – but it really does help to lift the colours in the animals’ coats. Again, it’s an example of how you can approach wildlife photography in a fresh way. We all know what wild dogs look like, so what techniques can you use to show them in an imaginative new light? Fundamentally, the shape created here by the interlocking bodies and limbs is satisfying; it’s not a ‘clean’ trophy shot, and it’s all the more successful for it.
