On a budget

-

I thoroughly agree with David Davies (Letters, issue 75) regarding budget photography. Not every photographer is a professional: most of us are amateurs on limited budgets or simply do not have the desire to purchase expensive kit.

I was particularly looking forward to your reviews of compact tripods (page 114, issue 75), as I wish to purchase a lightweight, reasonably priced tripod for a future holiday. I was disappointed to read that all the tripods were £100-plus – much more than I wished to spend for something that I will possibly use only occasionally with my bridge camera. ElaineRobinson, viaemail At N-Photo we tend to review tripods that have sufficient sturdiness and build quality to suit a full-sized Nikon DSLR with a reasonably weighty lens attached. If you’re using a lighter bridge camera and want to keep costs to a minimum, consider buying a cheap tripod from a reputable online retailer. You can always return it for a refund if you find it’s not ‘fit for purpose’.
