Richard switches VR off when shooting bears. “When on a gimbal or resting firmly on a bean bag you’re unlikely to need VR. I rely on the steadiness of the tripod and a fast shutter speed to freeze the action,” says Richard. “VR is great for handheld work or in low light, but for daylight shooting it’s not that helpful if you’ve set the camera up properly.”
