A road to ruins

NPhoto - - Over To You -

My journey started recently with my consideration of a new venture… photography. My passion being property, a fascination with abandoned buildings, ruins and gardening. What better way to bring my passions together than capturing everything in a photo.

My husband – the technological one – researched the best camera to take me through from novice to learn and develop, so we purchased the Nikon D3400. Since purchasing I was scared of this new machine and didn’t know where to start, so I purchased several books – still confused – I was in my local supermarket and saw N-Photo. I bought it and haven’t put it down since. I’ve learnt more from this publication than any book. Several weeks on I am trying to figure out my work-life balance with the children, work and my new passion… photography. I’m addicted.

The pure pleasure of the outdoors and capturing beautiful images has changed my outlook on my day-to-day vision. I take my camera everywhere. The children now expect to be featured and pose accordingly. This evening I subscribed to the magazine and the next issue can’t come fast enough. Until then I will reread from cover to cover. SaraHawkins Welcome to the Nikon – and N-Photo – family! Once you’ve been bitten by the bug, it does, indeed, change the way you look at the world. Lovely castle image, too, and great choice to convert to mono – you’ve certainly taken to your new hobby with gusto!

Ruins are great photographic subjects. Looming clouds make this a moody and evocative shot.
