Our Apprentice says…

Tom and I started the shoot in the evening. The plan was to capture the clouds ablaze with colour above the Matterhorn, but there was only a little stratus at the summit. Instead, Tom suggested I shoot the sun bursting out from the side of the mountain. I had to make sure I was in direct view of the sun, and as it set I had to keep moving further for it to appear over the peak. Tom recommended I shoot at f/18 in order to capture the starburst – the quintessential star shape that you can only achieve with a narrow aperture.
