Nissan’s baby loses a cylinder
Hey, Mum. Who stole the fourth cylinder? NEIL DOWLING loses it in Nissan’s new baby TURN the key and the sound of three cylinders under fire confirms that a motorist’s life is starting to change.
Nissan has dispensed with one cylinder to save money; money on making the engine, money on building the small car and money saved in the owner’s fuel bill.
The thing is — chop off a bit and something has to give. In this case, lose a cylinder and you lose some of the zing.
That aside, Nissan’s Micra is a really good thing — certainly one of the three best babies on the market— and perfectly reflects the automotive art of downsizing.
It’s safe, strong, comfortable, cheap to run and affordable.
