Wolf in sheep’s clothing
THERE is something tastefully restrained about the upcoming Audi S6.
The mid-sized S-car still has four tailpipes, a more-aggressive nose and side skirts, but there is less of the go-faster body bits.
The German make has also been more restrained in the engine room, according to Carparazzi sources, by removing the 5.2-litre V10 fitted to the current S6. Next time around, judging from this car caught on a trip from Germany to Gothenburg in Sweden, the powerplant is a turbocharged 4L V8 that could also do double duty in a Bentley Continental GT. Number 2: Ford Kuga. The motor show tease called Vertek in Detroit in January is being developed rapidly into the nextgeneration Ford Escape, with Kuga badges for Europe.
The new look shows the Vertek styling has survived for showrooms. But the V6 engine from the current Escape is out and the emphasis in early 2012 will be on the Ecoboost four.
Number 3: Mercedes SL. It’s less than six months to the new SL from Mercedes-Benz yet Carparazzi has caught a test car stripped of most of its camouflage.
Number 4: Opel Zafira. The final plan for Opel in Australia is still being set, but baby Zafira looks like a certain starter next year.
