Battle of old-timers

NT News - Motoring - - CARS GUIDE -

TWO old timers will do battle in Hobart on Monday.

The two-boat race, starting at 12.30pm, is between two 44-footers (13.4m) Sparkman Stephens design Huon pine racing boats, Landfall, built at Battery Point in 1935 and now owned by Mike Strong of Sydney, and Sirocco, built in 1939 also at Battery Point and owned by John Mackintosh.

Organisers of the Derwent Gift want as many classic yachts and motor boats as possible in the spectator fleet.
