McCartin to make his mark
ST KILDA coach Alan Richardson has backed forward Paddy McCartin to make a difference today as the Saints look to upset Sydney, a side they haven’t beaten in five years at Etihad Stadium.
McCartin has spent the past five weeks with Sandringham in the VFL since being dropped after Round 3.
After taking 14 marks and kicking 4.5 for the Zebras against Coburg last week, he earned a call-up.
Richardson said the 2014 No.1 draft pick was improving and “ready to go”.
“He’s been really positive for us for four or five weeks at VFL level,” he said.
“He’s been scoring but … his marking’s been really impressive and it’s been the balance of his marking ... when it’s time to lead and present he’s been good, but in a contest he’s also been pretty impressive.
“We’ve played some strong footy without really capitalising on some of our dominance.”
