Noonamah Ridge gets thumbs up

NT News - - NEWS -

NOONAMAH Ridge Estate is a step closer to fruition, with the NT Environment Protection Authority recommending the approval of the rural Darwin site.

The proposed site at Lloyd Creek is situated approximately 36km southeast of Darwin and seven km east of Noonamah.

The project would be built over a period of 30 years and provide up to 4200 residential lots, a new local town centre and associated services and infrastructure.

NT EPA chairman Dr Paul Vogel said the EPA identified potentially significant environmental impacts and risks associated with the proposal and made 11 recommendations to avoid and mitigate those impacts.

A key recommendation included a Planning Scheme Amendment that required development of a management framework to protect the significant environmental values of the site prior to development applications progressing any further.

Dr Vogel said the framework would establish the process for developing specific management arrangements.

The EPA has provided its assessment report to Intrapac Projects Pty Ltd and Environment Minister Lauren Moss, for consideration.
