Aussie film in run­ning for awards

AN AUS­TRALIAN film is a fron­trun­ner at the 11th an­nual Asia Pa­cific Screen Awards.

Sweet Coun­try has re­ceived three nom­i­na­tions in to­tal, the most nom­i­na­tions ever re­ceived by an Aus­tralian film.

As well as Best Fea­ture Film, the film also re­ceived nom­i­na­tions for Achieve­ment in Cin­e­matog­ra­phy (War­wick Thorn­ton and Dy­lan River) and Best Screen­play (David Tran­ter and Steven McGre­gor).

Films from Aus­tralia have re­ceived six nom­i­na­tions in to­tal, the equal high­est num­ber of nom­i­na­tions for 2017, with films from China and Ja­pan also re­ceiv­ing six nom­i­na­tions each.

The three other Aus­tralian film nom­i­nees are Jasper Jones, The Seen and Un­seen and The Op­po­si­tion.

Win­ners will be an­nounced at the 11th APSA cer­e­mony on Novem­ber 23, which will be held in Bris­bane.
