INSPIRE THE NEXT 1 GENERATION

Most people can name at least one teacher from their childhood who made an impression on their life, whether they introduced them to music or made reading enjoyable or showed them their own self worth.

2 EMPLOYMENT DEMAND About 38,400 extra teachers are expected to be hired in the five years to May, 2022, including in early childhood, primary, secondary and special education. These are on top of jobs created by staff turnover.

3 GOOD JOB SECURITY

The human element of teaching makes it unlikely to be automated in the near future. While all jobs will transform with new technology, nothing can replace the role of a teacher.

PASS ON WHAT

4 YOU KNOW

Many people move into teaching as a second career. It can be an opportunity to pass on expertise and life experience to the next generation.

5BE A ROLE MODEL Children learn more from what they see than what they are told. Teachers can impart good values such as manners, emotional intelligence and self-awareness simply by behaving that way themselves.
