NT News - - BUSINESS -

RUMOURS are swirling within the public service of yet another stimulus package being released by the Gunner Government to offset the lack of real work as we head into the end of the year and the Wet season. Business Confidential is aware of mild panic setting in as the realisation all the talk of a $1.7 billion capital works budget is not translating out in to shovel ready projects. Exactly what the stimulus package will look like is anyone’s guess. But Brett Brogan who is the general manager of infrastructure, investment and contract for the Department of Infrastructure Planning and Logistics told a Manufacturers Council Buy Local forum last week he was putting on “external project management teams” to help push tenders out the door. NT Business Review suggested a Home Improvement Scheme 2.0 a few weeks back — just saying.
