Hockey sides ready for redemption
THE Territory Pearls and Stingers will hope to claim their first points of the Australian Hockey League against South Australia today.
The Pearls were crushed 13-0 by Victoria last weekend, while the Stingers didn’t fare much better despite taking an early lead, going down 12-4, also to Victoria.
Both sides will play at Adelaide’s State Hockey Centre from 4pm and 5:30pm (NT Time).
The Stingers’ cause hasn’t been helped by the loss of Jeremy Hayward, who has been called up to a Kookaburras pre-World Cup training camp. The experienced Robert Duguid is also unavailable.
SA are unaffected by national duties, except for Lachlan Busiko, who is in Malaysia with Australia’s under-age Burras.
After suffering a knock against Victoria, Hockeyroo Brooke Peris looks fit to lead the Pearls against SA, who won their opening round match against WA 3-2.
