Boozy Drew’s relapse fears

NW - - News -

After a long and wellpublicised battle with the bottle, Drew Barrymore shockingly confessed in 2009 that, “I’m not [sober] and I don’t claim to be – quite the opposite. I’ve tried to find the balance. I hope it’s balanced.”

However, friends now fear the beloved actress – who started drinking by age 11 and was in rehab by 14 – has slipped back into old habits.

Indeed, several US outlets claim Drew, 43, is drinking more and more these days – including champagne for breakfast apparently!

“She hasn’t been herself lately and she’s acting bizarrely. She has people really worried,” a source tells US Star magazine. “Her friends are keeping a close eye on her and have vowed to intervene if necessary. They want her to get the help she needs before it’s too late!”

Drew recently admitted that she drinks to “get out of my own head”. And according to pals, she’s still seriously cut-up about the end of her four-year marriage to Will Kopelman, 40, with whom she shares daughters Olive, six, and Frankie, four.

“Drew insists she’s put it behind her, but it seems she hasn’t been able to totally move on,” the Star source spills. “Life was stable with Will, and she’s missing that in her life now.”

Meanwhile, worried pals have been sounding the alarm since early May.

“They’re very concerned about Drew,” an insider told Life & Style magazine at the time. “They fear it’s only a matter of time before she crashes

and burns.”
