There are two ba­sic types of C4, the ‘case fill’ for com­pacts and the ‘pan fill’ for full-size car and truck ap­pli­ca­tions. Very low power loss is an­other rea­son the C4 re­mains pop­u­lar with hot rod­ders and rac­ers alike. It takes roughly twice the h.p to drive the C6. as it does a C4. It has a first-gear ra­tio of 2.46:1, se­cond 1.46:1, and third 1.00:1 — all the same as C6. There is a wide va­ri­ety of af­ter­mar­ket parts avail­able for the light­weight trans to help make it a heavy­weight per­former. High-tech fric­tion lin­ings from Raybestos and Alto. Ko­lene steels to bil­let ser­vos and Kevlar bands to man­ual valve bod­ies.
