Cul­ture — Back­street Car Meet hit the cal­en­dar last year, achiev­ing ev­ery­thing it set out to. The laid-back day out has now ar­ranged to take over all of Har­wood Street, Hamil­ton, on De­cem­ber 2, for a cel­e­bra­tion of Kiwi car cul­ture — with a fo­cus on low-rid­ers, kus­toms, hot rods, bikes, and pre-’87 Ja­panese and Euro­pean cars — ded­i­cated to bring­ing dif­fer­ent car scenes and like-minded peo­ple to­gether. There will be a range of prizes on of­fer, and the day will end with a ca­sual cruise. En­try will be via gold-coin do­na­tion, with all pro­ceeds go­ing to­wards the Dream Chaser Foun­da­tion. Sum­merJam is about to hit ASB Bay­park, Tau­ranga, promis­ing a day for car en­thu­si­asts young and old to cel­e­brate sum­mer and the best of the New Zealand car scene! With an out­door car dis­play, ded­i­cated cruise route, trade stands, food ven­dors, DJs, cash and prize give­aways, and much more, this is go­ing to be a sweet lead-in to sum­mer. The event, which will be held at Hamp­ton Downs Mo­tor­sport Park, will be head­lined by a spe­cial cel­e­bra­tion of the ‘Leg­ends of Bathurst’, in­clud­ing not only ve­hi­cles that have com­peted at the leg­endary track but also driv­ers. Ex­pect to see the likes of Dick John­son, Jim Richards, Steve Richards, Craig Lown­des, Greg Mur­phy, John Bowe — the list goes on!
