Nascar Power

-

Since Nascar engines were allowed into CMC, they’ve proven to be a very cost-effective way to create horsepower. As the engines are held at high rpm for extended periods during Nascar events, they’re generally built to last. However, there is a catch — in CMC, there’s a rev limit of 8500rpm for engines up to 360ci and 8000rpm for engines up to the class maximum of 413ci (big blocks can be up to 500ci). This can have a big effect on the amount of horsepower the engines can create. The 358ci version in the Challenger is assisted by an MSD ignition system, stepped four-into-one headers with F1 merge collectors and a custom side-exit muffler. While it’s not been on a dyno, the output is known to be somewhere in excess of 800hp.
