ONJ & Delta MEND BRIDGES
Any old differences were water under the bridge when Olivia Newton-john hugged it out with Delta Goodrem at her ONJ Masquerade Gala on September 8.
There were rumours the Grease legend had stopped taking Delta’s calls after she accepted the role of Olivia in a controversial biopic two years ago.
Speaking out last year, Olivia, 68, said she felt plans for the miniseries were ‘surreal and odd’. ‘It is a very strange thing for them to be making a movie about me,’ she admitted.
Even so, she says Delta, 32, and the project has her support. ‘I think Delta is a great choice. She is wonderful,’ says Olivia. ‘It took me a while to come around about the show in the beginning, but I do see it as an honour.’
It was the first public appearance for Olivia after she received her second breast cancer diagnosis in May.
‘I’m winning over cancer,’ Olivia confirmed the happy news to Richard Wilkins at the Melbourne event. ‘I wouldn’t be human if I wasn’t scared at some moments. But I have an inner belief system that I will get through it.’
