INSIDE OUR LOVE AFFAIR JOHN STRIKES AGAIN!

THE SMITTEN STAR ON HOW AMAL STOLE HIS HEART

OK! (Australia) - - This Week -

Only four years ago, George Clooney appeared to be loving life as a single man. Little did we know that just a few years later, the 56-year-old would revoke his eternal bachelor status – getting down on one knee and proposing to his now-wife Amal, 39, and later welcoming twins. So does the actor ever miss his single status? ‘I sure don’t. That seems like a lifetime ago,’ George confessed recently. ‘Now my house is filled with the warm sounds of babies crying. You should see when my friends show up and see me change a diaper, the laughter that comes from them. I go, “I know, I know.” I’ve given them so much shit for so many years, I deserve every bit of it.’ Here’s married life according to George…

ON THEIR FIRST MEETING…

‘I thought she was beautiful, and I thought she was funny and obviously smart,’ George gushes of Amal. ‘She probably thought I was old…we were writing each other, emailing, talking, mostly about what was going on in each other’s lives, and over a period of time it became clear we were more than just friends.’

ON FALLING IN LOVE…

‘It changes you in every way,’ he shares. ‘Suddenly, the other person’s life becomes more important than your own… I’m sorry I was 50-something when it happened, but only because I could have spent even more time with her.’

ON THE PROPOSAL…

‘Over champagne, after dinner, I told her there was a lighter to light the candle in the drawer, and she reached back and pulled out a ring,’ the actor tells. ‘I did all the stuff, got down on my knee and did all the things you’re supposed to do. I had a playlist with my Rosemary songs on it [his late aunt, singer Rosemary Clooney], and I was waiting for this song, Why Shouldn’t I?… And it played, and she’s like, “Holy shit!” And she just kept staring at the ring, going, “Oh, my God.” It was 20 minutes of me on my knee, waiting for her to say yes, because she was so shocked.’

ON HAVING KIDS…

‘It had never been part of my DNA,’ George says of having children. ‘We never talked about it until after we were married. We just felt we’d gotten very lucky, both of us, and we should share whatever good luck we’ve got.’

ON BEING A DAD…

‘My job is changing diapers and walking them around a little bit,’ says George of his new twins Alexander and Ella. ‘I want them to be happy.’

After John Mayer tweeted, ‘I spend an inordinate amount of timeme per day wondering if Nicki Minaj would like me or not’, he probably didn’tn’t expect a reply. So imagineagine his surprise whenn she wrote back, ‘Would my body be your wonderland?’erland?’ The shocked singer then responded:ed: ‘Please hold, losing my shit. This isn’t my reply yet.’

Gushing over pics of the twins on his phone, he says, ‘They’re fat and happy, they giggle and they laugh and they sleep.’ Aww
