A star is born
Born in LA to George, an underground comic book distributor, and Irmelin, a legal secretary, Leo describes his parents as ‘Bohemian in every sense of the word’. ‘My dad always told me, “Go out there, son, and whatever you do, I don’t care if you’re successful or not, just have an interesting life,”’ he says of his father. When he was younger, he would travel with his dad to comic book stores around the country and was also allowed to drop out of high school to pursue acting. ‘They listened to me, you see. They listened to their kid saying, “This is what I want to do,” and they supported me unconditionally; they made me feel that all my dreams were within reach,’ Leo reveals.
‘Both of my parents were unbelievable, so I was incredibly fortunate,’ Leo gushes of his mum and dad, who divorced when he was a year old
‘I grew up very poor and I got to see the other side of the spectrum,’ says the actor
