Katie Holmes still isn’t truly free from Tom Cruise

SIX YEARS AFTER SHE LEFT TOM CRUISE, THE ACTRESS STILL ISN’T TRULY FREE

For more than seven years, Katie Holmes was watched by Scientology minders – that’s what came with dating, and eventually marrying, the controversial religion’s most famous member Tom Cruise, and welcoming his child Suri, now 12. ‘Katie’s every move was under the microscope,’ alleges a source, adding that during her marriage to Tom, ‘Katie wondered if she was being spied on by church employees in her own home.’

Even now, six years after blindsiding Tom with divorce papers, representatives of the religion are still watching, according to her former pal, ex-scientologist Leah Remini. ‘Trust me, Katie’s not allowed to have a meal with me, and we used to be close friends,’ the actress reveals, adding that Katie probably hasn’t spoken out against the religion because she was forced to sign ‘prohibitive documents’ like non-disclosure agreements. ‘She could lose custody of Suri,’ alleges Leah, who’s become an outspoken critic of Scientology in recent years. ‘It’s quite sick, really.’

The church called Leah’s claims another one of her ‘ridiculous rants’ in a statement, and accused the host of the TV documentary Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath of spreading ‘myths and tales [that] are growing more bizarre by the day’. And Leah’s claim that the 39-year-old star could lose Suri

is extreme, considering Tom, 56, hasn’t been seen with his daughter in public in more than five years, says the source.

But the implication that Katie can’t openly socialise with people who are critical of Tom’s religion can’t be dismissed. ‘Tom does still have control over Katie,’ the source alleges of the concessions the actress makes to keep her ex happy.

Limiting who she meets with is bad enough for the Logan Lucky star. But Katie allegedly has to watch what she says, hence why she’s remaining tight-lipped about her time with the actor. ‘She’s been muzzled about saying much about Tom or Scientology, as part of the agreement she signed after she filed for divorce,’ says the source. ‘And those agreements don’t have an end date.’ So Katie’s being careful not to rock the boat. ‘She suffered such trauma before and after the divorce,’ the source alleges.

Still, according to the insider, mum-of-one Katie has no regrets. ‘She still feels divorcing Tom was the best decision she ever made,’ tells the source. And with every passing year, she finds more happiness, including her decision to be more public with beau Jamie Foxx, 50.

‘But most of all, she just loves being a mum to [her daughter]. Suri is Katie’s world,’ says the source. ‘Katie’s greatest revenge on Tom is that she and Suri have such a great life together.’

SHE COULD LOSE CUSTODY OF SURI. IT’S QUITE SICK, REALLY

‘My child is the most important person to me,’ Katie says
